The installation of new siding

Is a great opportunity to totally change the appearance of your home.

2 different kinds of siding on this new house in Kelowna

There are so many textures, materials, and colors available for siding that it can be overwhelming. As an experienced siding contractor we will guide you through the options. We are vinyl siding installers, wood siding installers and Longboard and Lix installers too so we will help you to find what is right for you. Our priority is YOUR long-term satisfaction, and we trade almost entirely through our good reputation, through recommendations.

Now, let us introduce you to the most common siding materials and systems. You may have heard of some of them, or all of them, but I wonder if you ever considered them for your own home. Read on for inspiration!

Longboard and Lux panel- Longboard and Lux are two manufacturers that produce their own ranges of architectural panels that can be used as siding. Longboard is made of Aluminum and Lux is made of steel. Both are very durable and long-lasting, and both give a bold modern appearance. Their ranges are clearly displayed on the websites and we can supply you with brochures if you prefer to flick through the pages and ponder the possibilities. Both Longboard and Lux offer a variety of colors. You may not recognize your house if you cover your old brickwork, or replace your tide old siding, with any Longboard or Lux panel. The transformation is dramatic and impressive. These panels can also be used as soffit and fascia, and because of their distinct appearance are really well suited to a full exterior renovation or new build project.

Hardie board siding- Hardie board siding is manufactured by James Hardie, of cement, sand, and cellulose fibers. It comes in a wide variety of colors and textures. It's low-maintenance, long-lasting, there's no risk of it denting like Longboard or Lux, and it's also easy to replace any damaged or cracked panels over the years.

Shakes- Shakes are traditionally made of cedar or other timber, and still can be. However, modern alternatives include vinyl shakes that have the appearance of traditional shakes, but are much more durable. Many clients select wooden shakes because they are more eco-friendly, or because they have a distinct feel and smell to them. Over the years the weather and various species of animal will find their way in and cause the shakes to move and ultimately break. This can be actively managed with regular maintenance and the wooden shakes are treated by the manufacturer in order to prolong their useable lifespan. Vinyl shakes inevitably lack those natural qualities, but generally require less maintenance over the years, and their appearance can mimic wood shakes quite well. If you're concerned about their appearance we can tell you where we've installed them previously to help you to decide if it's the right look for you.

Batten style siding- Batten style siding is defined by the use of vertical battens that appear to hold the siding in place. This siding can be made of wood or vinyl, and the strong vertical lines are easily recognizable from a distance. Batten style siding can be general-purpose for stylistic reasons, but also it is commonly used to board over insulation panels, installed either as part of a home exterior renovation or new build.

Vinyl siding- In contrast to visually vertical batten style siding, vinyl siding typically has a horizontal effect. This is created by long vertical panels which are lapped one above another, or connected in order give a flush vertical finish. Vinyl is very versatile and there's a good range of colors and textures to choose from. Vinyl is generally good as a more economical option, it's easy to fit. and lasts well in the weather too.

Once you've read this you'll be able to spot different types of siding as you walk the dog or take the kids to school, and you'll definitely find some inspiration for your home around your neighborhood. We have brochures and links to all of the manufacturer's websites, and we'd be glad to talk you through and help you to find the ideal siding product.
