Window and door trim
And they seal the external joint between window or door frames with the wall structure.
The joint between the wall structure and the window or door frame is a weak point in any building, where the weather or pests are most likely to find their way into the structure over time and damage it. It is essential that these house trims are installed properly to protect your home.
We work with custom wood cladding and metal cladding, and we do the paintwork, all to the highest standard.
Custom wood cladding- We select and install our wooden trims very carefully to extend their useful life, and reduce the risk of strain on the materials during installation but also as the seasons change. Our wooden trims are appropriately treated to protect them from weather and wildlife, and we'll paint them PROFESSIONALLY. Once you've seen how we install wooden trims you might start to notice poor quality paintwork and wonky woodwork when you visit your friends and family! Wooden cladding has that classic feel to it, and modern manufactured wooden trims are very durable, not like previously when annual maintenance was necessary. Nonetheless, paintwork detailing is essential at installation in order to ensure that the trim is adequately protected to avoid rot sneaking in at corners or edges.
Metal cladding- Metal cladding has a very different feel to it and it is absolutely essential to install this correctly following manufacturers' instructions. If this detail is not stored correctly rainwater can sit in the corners of your exterior sill, seeping in overtime. Due to slight flexibility in the metal cladding, precision installation is required to ensure that there are no gaps in the cladding, that the gradients are all correct and that overhang is also sufficient. Metal cladding can be ordered in a range of colors, but should not then be painted, so if you might like to paint your trims a different color every now and then you should use wooden trim instead.
Door trims are largely the same as window trims and are fitted in the same way. Two key differences are the detailing required at the bottom of the door and the fact that you cause vibration in the door frame every time you open and close the door. Here poor-quality detailing and installation can lead to water seeping under the door, or into the building structure, potentially contributing to rising dampness or structural damage over time. Over time the vibration caused as the door opens and closes, can cause trim to loosen or move which then allows gaps for water ingress or even pests to make their way in. It is absolutely essential that these trim details are right.
Hire CC Patrick Stevens Exteriors to get these critical details done right, to protect your home from the elements and from pests. Trim is simple, but there's a world of difference between a high-quality finish and an amateur finish, both in terms of immediate aesthetics and durability.
