We can say that all of them will make your home look amazing. Soffit has a high visual impact as it effectively looks down at you from just under the bottom edge of the roof. If you haven't noticed the soffit before just walk outside your house and look up towards the roof. Many of our customers have joked with is that they just can't help looking at soffits now everywhere they go, and of course, that's a great way to check out the options. If you find a soffit that you like on your daily walk, take a picture and send it to us so we can find a match or similar product for you, or if possible ask the homeowner what the product is so that we can look it up specifically and offer you advice regarding its suitability for your project. Whatever soffit product you choose, take a photo of your house before work begins because you won't believe the difference afterward.

Over the years we've installed Longboard and Lux architectural panels, aluminum soffit, wood soffit, and composite style soffits. All of these are better suited to certain applications and have different options for venting, or color options. We can help you to decide what type of soffit is right for you. Soffit and fascia are often selected to match aesthetically, with the fascia commonly installed along with the soffit installation.

Longboard and Lux are two companies that manufacture architectural panels. They have excellent websites and brochures that you can browse for inspiration. We'll help you to identify which products could work well for your project technically and aesthetically. Longboard and Lux are more suited to expansive soffit areas that are more typical of commercial buildings than houses. Commercial structures and materials may provide ideas for your own project, and if you want to replicate a look that you've seen on a commercial building somewhere we could look for an alternative product to create a similar effect for your home.

Aluminum soffit is easy to clean, durable, and ultimately recyclable. It can be painted and there are vented versions to air the eaves. It can be easily dented so it may be less appropriate at first-floor eaves where there is a greater risk of it being knocked by someone maneuvering a ladder or long-handled tools.

Wood soffit has a more traditional appearance, and there is some variety in sizes and shades available. It can be stained, painted, and treated in order to change its appearance and make it last longer. The natural material usually has a certain organic quality to it, some odd shape or details, but that also makes it more prone to shrink and deteriorate over time. It is also more at risk of deterioration due to pests such as beetles or woodworm and must be treated fairly regularly.

Composite style soffits now come in all sorts of shapes, textures, and colors. Various manufacturers produce vinyl soffit products that have the appearance of wood, and most people wouldn't be able to tell that it wasn't wood without touching it.
